Changed music to this one from the Jap anime, Howl's Moving Castle. It's a brilliant brilliant piece of music... And it suits the turbulent twenties theme to a T! Soaring ups and crestfallen downs.... like the waves of an ocean. So beautiful, so magical, slightly melancholic, but always interesting. Very European... very classic.
I've always imagined my 21st birthday to be in a palace full of mirrors and myself in a beautiful ballgown. And some dashing young gentleman leading me in a whirlwind waltz in a room full of waltzing people.... Something along the lines of the royal balls in UK. This is precisely the scenario that this music brings to mind. The old world kind of romance..... *sigh* Set in turbulent times.... *sigh again* star-crossed lovers...
It's always what can never be that's the most memorable and the most poignant.
Ok enough daydreaming. Back to the present....
Life's been anything BUT peaceful. It's the wild wild whirl of business as usual. But since my 3 performances ended, I've had waves of opportunities rolling in.
First, I may be going to Vienna next year for a theatre exchange at this Italian theatre festival. It's with the school and people who are doing theatre minor and it's SO cool! And the best thing is my parents are supportive! Cos it's soul food. And of course my Mom's a HUGE Italian fan.... given that she sings their opera and all.
Shortly after some pal of mine called to ask if I was available to do a hair show in KL for Monsoon. They're gonna fly us in and out of KL and we'll be getting our hair styled while playing violin.... Now I really wonder how it's gonna work. But hey, I'm game for anything. Especially since after that I'll get free Monsoon services for a year. And what better time than now when I can still afford to be experimental to get a really CRAZY WACKY hairdo?
Just hoping it wouldn't turn out too disastrous.... I'm hoping for pink streaks on blonde hair ala Natalie Portman in Closer though.... hehe... Think I can carry it off? With lotsa punk attitude?
I've always wanted to be a beach bum
Anyway, just last weekend, a CS senior who's doing stuff for M*V too asked me to audition for this on-air promo for Urb*n Be*ts. He apparently needs 50 guys and gals who can dance to act out a party scene. Getting paid 250 for a day's shoot, which isn't too bad considering that's half of what I'm getting for slogging a MONTH! Not to mention the crazy times I stay late till....
So YIPPEE!!! So many new stuff and opportunities coming my way! Think dance has really opened up my life and changed it dramatically... in ways beyond my imagination. New buddies, new lifestyle, new hangouts, new social identity and dress sense, new outlook on life, newfound mental and physical strength... And new opportunities...
And the really ironic part is that I have so and so to thank for introducing dance into my life. Maybe he really came for a purpose greater than the relationship itself.
Frankly, I'm no longer bitter. Not at all. Put up the previous 'evil' photo in a fit of anger, but it's more for amusement rather than to inflict hurt. So all's cool!
I love the music! I love my current fulfilling life! And I look forward to a new day everyday.
And I never want to return to the noose that was my relationship with so and so.
Just went out with dance pals to Cafe Cartel yesterday evening after dance and we chilled out till 11.30pm. It's become a weekly affair now. To chill out every Sunday and Monday after dance. And I'm so glad for this because their company is invaluable. Full of positive vibes.... laughter, happiness. Seriously, I really think we girls can just survive on girl pals alone. What's the use of guys if not to procreate?
OK. Pardon the sexist slant, but it's yours sincerely's humble opinion. And just FYI, it's MY BLOG and I can write whatever I want here! MUAHAHAHA!!!! *oops, evil me resurfacing slightly here*
Had a serious talk with a close guy friend online, and he really gave me lotsa insights on relationships--- from the male point of view. Like me and some readers of this blog, he'd only been through ONE serious relationship and is still recovering. Poor dude, I say! But at least he's decent enough not to find a back-up plan or a rebound gf within a WEEK of breaking up! Have to applaud him for remaining single for almost a year! Then again, I've been single for close to HALF A YEAR TOO!!! That's quite amazing huh? hehe... I applaud myself too! For being strong and being so successful at keeping myself happy. Recovery was really quick once I set my mind on it. And I'm glad things always end up going my way..... :) YAY!
Speaking of doing it my way... I've recently discovered a new fixation: ONLINE SHOPPING! :) You see.... dance and staying late at work means very little shopping time... but AH! There's always technology to fall back on. For really cheap bargains on Abercrombie, Victoria's Secrets stuff and various makeup, skincare, etc. all that girly stuff, try
www.cosycot.com and
www.flowerpod.org. WAYY COOL!!!
Anyway, will upload pics of the Sat night out to Zouk and Coco soon! And more interesting bits on our (mis)adventures there! Stay tuned! And embrace the rolling waves! WOOHOO!!!
Meanwhile... I'll be dreaming about the young gentleman who led me to dance in my sleep tonight.
