YEAP... It's official. After 2 ulcers, some zits, SEVERE eyebags, puffy eyes, INTENSE sleep deprivation, drying up hair, non-stop bouts of sneezing, a mild flu, several tissue-pacs, and days of non-exercise later.... It's the weekend..... FINALLY..... *and about time too!*
Oh, and let's not even GO into the tonnes of readings and reports and my 5 seminars in this week alone and one awfully long company prospectus to go thru (it's FRIGGIN 424 pages) and analyze...
PLUS... I have to wake up at 6.30am EVERYDAY. It's fine and dandy if I can sleep by 12 midnight, but I can't!! CJ's body's all screwed up. You try to sleep at 11, lala-land comes at 2. Not exactly my idea of fun...
JZ said she could hear my brains grow. I just see myself drying up, shrivelling away into this wrinkled old lady who lives in a shoe....
A typical morning starts with my horrible mobile playing the irritating Pussycat Dolls song. At first I put nice tunes, but they don't work on me. It JUST HAS to be Pussycat Dolls cos they irritate me enough to get me outta bed.
Then it's tug-of-war time with my bro over the toilet for morning shower, but we've been civil so far. And all the way to to work, I'll be thinking about how tired I am and how I need coffee or green tea really badly...
Don't get me wrong. I ADORE my work. Let me just say that again. A-D-O-R-E.
I don't think i've ever been happier. Thursday was a 8am-10.30pm day and I was still perky and happy after it all. I may be cussing the whole world through the commute in the morning but once I get to my table, all negative feelings are gone.... poofed... Ze team members are nice, smart and driven, bosses are great folks and incredibly patient, I have watermelon juice and coffee to drink every morning.... Overall, life can't get any better.
Well, there were ups and downs, mainly cos I miss Mr J. And that occassional moodswing which accompanies the female procreation ability, but nothing a good bout of crying wouldn't solve... So li'l claire went out to give herself a GOOD cry over nothing in particular, got puffy eyes in the process, and came out of it feeling tonnes better.
Well, today's the ONLY day of this week I can do my SATC marathon, so I'm on Season 6 now. Anytime now, it's gonna end and I'm gonna have to jump.... or watch it all again.
Anyways, Mr J was entertaining me hugely by comparing relationships to finance and drawing really ZANY analogies along the way.
In stocks valuation, 'beta' represents the risk, and higher risk pushes the value down, cos it's undersirable.
So I asked Mr J what my beta was.... (I thought it was quite high, cos I'm so volatile and emo and I've all these baggages and I'm so feminist and critical of males, so the risk for him is high right? Cos anytime, I can crush his ego or something.)
And surprisingly, he said it's just like 1. Turns out he defines 'beta' in a r/s differently. High maintenance girls make for higher 'beta' for him. Oh well.
SATC Season 6 began with an episode on Finance too. Carrie says: "If you picked a bad stock, you just lose your shirt. If you picked a bad r/s, you lose your will to live..."
*so utterly true*
"And if the r/s is good, the stakes are even higher. And after weathering all the ups and downs, you could one day find yourself with nothing."
So why do we keep investing?
Actually, I have the answer to that. You're investing to keep that lil flame of hope and happiness alive. If not, what can you do? Just give up and stop living??
People still fall and love and get married in their 50s or 60s! Love if weird. It'll come at the oddest hours. But some people let their blind pursuit of romance and that tingly-warm-fuzzy feeling lead them away from their loved ones. And then when they realise that they've let someone really great go, they'll come to regret. Sometimes, comfort, acceptance and warmth take precedence over that butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling. CJ learnt this and knows this well enough.
No man? Who cares? Stocks make enough money to get you that POSH apartment called "The Shelf" even if you can't find one. And FYI, "The Shelf" is gonna be BIGGER than The Solitaire. UBER prime property. It'll command 4k psf. hahaha... I just haven't found a place and architect to build it up yet.
Just don't end up that shrivelled ol' woman who lives in a shoe.

You Likey? I Likey!
Besides working, yours sincerely here have been having an overdose on SATC. (I'm on Season 5 Disc 1. Have no idea what'll happen when I finish Season 6. Maybe I should just jump off the building. Maybe I'll just watch the damn whole thing again.)
ANYWAYS, there's this episode where Dolce and Gabbana dresses Carrie Bradshaw up for a fashion runway show and she went, "Me no likey!" or "Me LIKEY very much!"
Well, here goes:
Me 'likey likey' my blog skin and virtual pet, Wee Webbit. It's brought me tonnes of joy and smiles to people's faces. *I hope*
Me likey likey very much my new job.... It's really sexy and full of buzz...
Me lovey lovey that one impt dude in my life who's in HK, and whom I feel like dancing with to Moon River a la Carrie and Mr Big when Big left New York to live in Napa.
Me likey likey this rather INSPIRED phrase from SATC:
On the subject of being an eternal optimist: How do you bounce back when reality batters your belief system and love DOES NOT, as promised, conquer all??
So much meaning packed into one teeny sentence...
