I hardly have time to breathe now that school has started and my social life remains just as active... bleah.. Plus I need to job search and mr D lent me a 5-inch thick book on writing kick-ass resumes and creating that impression to knock 'em dead. It's kinda useful but I HATE READING NON-FICTION!!! Somebody give me that fairytale adventure book anytime man!
We last stopped on Wednesday when my luck was running high romantically. Funny how it comes in crests and dips, like waves too. Pour example, this week is pretty low except for the group outing with mr W and commando bee later and a whole motley crue of people whom I love. (as friends LAH)
Thursday
Pageant day today and I look a DRAG! The late nights and perpetual running around didn't do my skin any good. Plus my dear flu has bestowed me with a voice which can be described "sexy" at best and "croaky" at worst. Plus I sound about as nasal as a chinese wayang singer.
Finally got myself down to the place and instead of rehearsals, they made us sit down and wait to be made up. So I waited an hour to be made up, another 2 hours to GET made-up and one more hour to get my hair done. IT'S TOTALLY CRAZY! Who takes 2 hours just to do makeup? I take 10 min MAX... even with careful preening and all, it doesn't take that long.
And I thereby concluded that the beauty business wasn't for me. I hate the waiting and the sitting around while people painted your face. Seriously, I can do it no my own and look the same. This is the finished product. I think my face was too white and lips too red. Bah...
Then came 'rehearsals' which were held in the back alley behind the bar. It's darn lame and just walking and presenting. And that dude had to make us repeat so many times like we're some dim-witted asses. Seriously!
Then there was the QnA session which was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek. No brain cells required. They asked stuff like "Would you be the girlfriend of someone if he paid you $2000 to do so?" and "Describe the most embarassing incident you had in your sex life" and "Would you pinch a cute stranger's butt in a club?"
Actually I was pretty miffed that "World Peace" wasn't one of the accepted answers, cos this is probably the only time I'll get to say "world peace" on stage and get applause for it... oh well... *just kidding*
All in all, though I didn't get into finals, it was quite an experience. Met some nice folks, did a couple of dances with R, J and mr tan, took some pics and I'm happy! *beams*

And the evening didn't end there. Commando bee asked me to join him at Thumper and being dressed up and all and I was gonna cab home anyway, I went. Music was AWFUL. Like trance and technified Black Eyed Peas songs. Danced a bit during the brief episode of hiphop. Didn't help that commando bee made me wait 10 min while he was out making a phonecall. So I was all by myself for quite a while.
Met this really gay guy who danced like a gay but was totally sporting. And surprise surprise! I found out later he's married with kids. And he still dances like there's no tomorrow. RESPECT.
Hitched a ride home on a flashy red car. I hold a serious distaste for red cars. They're just as bad as the electric blue bengster ones, thought a lil classier due to their link to Ferraris.
Friday
Met up with my darling Primary school classmates for dimsum at Chinatown then an afternoon of karaoke. What can I say? Everybody there was Singapore Idol material.... Brilliant singing coupled with great company. Can't ask for much more. And we could do lotsa duets cos there were 3 guys and 4 gals.
I'm kind of surprised my Primary school classmates were so proficient in singing, especially Mandarin love ballads.
Always thought some of them were sort of 'kentang' or very Westernized, but then I realised that we're from the same system from P1-6, which makes them effectively bilingual. And it's great to know that they've done well for themselves.
Though I wasn't in top form, had a great time just listening to great singing 'live'.
*Game: Spot the crush!*
Thereafter, Y, J and I shopped around Chinatown for mahjong tiles... which turned out pretty entertaining. It was like this Chinese Immersion trip around Chinatown, where we saw traditional food stuff and handicrafts. There're lotsa pretty stuff in Chinatown actually, and we 'ooh'ed and 'aah'ed over many beautiful lamps and stone fountain displays. Oh, and they sell dirt-cheap accessories too!! WHOOPEEE!
I never knew there's actually ONE BIG SHOP in People's Park Complex just selling mahjong stuff. It's kinda like the COURTS or IKEA of mahjong. Brilliant!
Joined J, J and PL from church at a boardgame cafe later. S and J came soon after and we had a riotous evening of fun-filled laughter and thrilling screams. Especially with S and J. Oh well.... people do crack under 'stress'. We discovered the joys of good old-fashioned games like "Taboo", "Snorta" and some others...
S and E set me up on a phonecall with the boat party cutie and he sounded kinda weird. E later told me that he was so happy after talking to me that he beamed the whole evening. And he was stressed out as well, cos he was perspiring after the conversation and had to wash his face. They all laughed at his shyness, but I was sort of taken aback that someone liked me this much only after one meeting and that he's so terribly shy. It's kinda freaky. And i don't exactly fancy the idea that he liked me based on first impressions.
But all in all, I loved today. It's a brilliant day with briliant company. Who says you need to be attached to be happy?
Saturday
The long wait is FINALLY over! It's NYE!!! Finally, another turbulent year has passed. Funny how I don't feel the NYE sort of nostalgia and renewal of hope. Maybe it's because I already am happy. In fact, I didn't even make resolutions. Probably the only thing I kept in mind was to be a better person, so it encompasses all areas of my life, with work, with relationships, with health. Just to be better in general.
But I have to say that 2005 has been the best year of my life. I played darn hard the whole year, had a blast at MTV, continued having a blast in school at with dance, made some awesome friends to keep for life, bought 3 pairs of Birkinstocks, finally got my ipod mini, partied every weekend like there's no tomorrow, dated many people, watched tonnes of movies, gained tonnes of confidence, learnt tonnes of life lessons and wrote more journal entries than I ever did my whole life. *beams*
Yes, 2005 shall go down in history as the best year of my life! And now my resolution is to make 2005 pale in comparison to 2006, for I want 2006 to reigneth!
Anyway, NYE party at Pan Pac was a surprisingly quiet affair. We watched the fireworks live from the best vantage view of the hotel suite and twas MARVELLOUS!! I even have a few videop clips to show.
Then we fooled around taking pictures..
The view from hotel suite...
The Hip Hop gang with their kickass pose... DANCERS UNITE!
The nice regular group pic but we weren't looking the right way...
Okay, now we are, but F has to spoil it by puckering his lips and feeling like he wants to kiss W *sic*
The quintessential act sexy pic gone wrong...
The perfect glamourous GAY magazine cover pic...
More gay displays from inebriated dudes...
F and I on our 2nd NYE as best mates...
No, contrary to popular belief, we didn't get to dance on NYE even though most peeps are dancers here. But we did have a great time chillling, several frustrating moments waiting for people and gathering lost lambs but all in all, t'was a good NYE. I even met up with mr D and his friend for supper after the whole thing!
And I more than made up for the lack of dancing on NYE by Zouking on Sunday to great hiphop tracks in the main hall. Saw some fantastic feats by some B-boys too. They were battling in front of the DJ console. Uber cool!
That's all for now. Can't wait to play Taboo with J, S and gang along with mr W and commando bee later!
PS- Korean bee called to ask how I was.... he's so weird. I thought he disappeared and now he's in the picture again! *heehee*
